HIRING PEOPLE IN A DIFFICULT ENVIROMENT
HIRING PEOPLE IN A DIFFICULT ENVIRONMENT
I was recently in Michigan and saw a digital billboard on the highway. 50 % of this billboard said the following: INSTALLATION MANAGER WANTED. Also is stated the company’s name, phone number, and website address. The company was a kitchen and bath company in the local area. This shows how difficult it is to find good employees in today’s workplace. Within a mile, I saw another billboard with another company’s name, phone number, and website address. They listed three job positions they were trying to fill. They also said{competitive wages, signing bonuses, and benefits. I researched the local area’s unemployment rate, and because it was so low, I understood why they were using billboards to attract new employees. This digital billboard is a great idea,
Television Ads
I recently saw an ad on television for a heating and cooling company. During their ad, they hand a banner rolling across their ad stating, “hiring installers and tech people.” It was very impressive, and everyone in the room mentioned how clever an idea it was for hiring employees.
Use Existing Employees to Help Fill Job Openings
One of the best and easiest ways to fill job openings is to ask existing employees to recommend their friends and acquaintances. They all know someone who is looking for a job. They will only recommend someone who they know will do a good job. Wanting,t the new employee to do well as it reflects. You will be pleasantly surprised by how well and easy it is to fill job openings this way. They also want to show their friends they are thinking of them and their well-being.
Use Old Personnel Files
People who have left your employment on good terms may be interested in returning to work for your company. They went for various reasons. However, you may find that their circumstances have changed or they do not like their new job as much as they thought. This happens more than you think. You are getting an already trained employee, familiar with your company and existing friends who work for you. This is a win-win.HIRING WELL-QUALIFIED EMPLOYEES
